Unit is made in China. The exterior is made of blue plastic. It is as loud as my builder installed old In-Sinkerator Pro disposer that lasted over 15 years. I don't have any expectation this one is going to last that long. Has a 2 year warranty but does have a cheap overall "feel" to it. Go for the Badger for peace of mind. Don't save a few bucks for the unknown. I bought it because it was readily in stock and I needed one when I needed it for over the long weekend. One plus was installation was really a breeze, totally just a one-for one direct no surprises replacement.

This is a sleek looking disposal. Even though it is hidden from public view I love the color and shape. But most of all the easy installation. It's operating well.

I have only owned a few weeks but find the quiet efficiency of this disposal to be its best feature so far. A steady munching versus the carnivorous gnawing of my former disposal, music to the ears.
