I spent 14 hours reviewing side-by-side and 3 door refrigerators. Most had quite a few negative ratings on the 9 websites I checked. This one had zero negative ratings, plus my brother and his kids each had purchased a total of 4 Samsung refrigerators and they reported that 1) The fridges were great, 2) the repair record of Lowes was great, and 3) they all STILL HAD those refrigerators with NO PROBLEMS after several years! The energy star was a big selling point for me. I have had this one since Dec 3rd and it is great! VERY quiet, low energy use, ice-maker in the door (which I was hesitant about) works fine and I am very happy with it. I have had 2 very small issues with it. One of the door shelves cracked and was replaced immediately. The ice-maker was crushing all the ice even when in "cube" mode. Samsung replaced the entire ice-maker and it works very well now. I am a happy camper!

This fridge has had problems since day one. It made 1 batch of ice then stopped. We have had a service person come out and was told that many times parts are hard to get from Samsung. We have had this almost 2 months with no satisfaction. The door is very heavy and slams shut. So far we are very disappointed it this item.

The ice maker on this refrigerator is definitely noisy and I can hear it all over our 4,000 sq ft home, but that does not really bother me. What has made me unhappy is the little knob that controls the ice maker rotation. If it is not set right, the freezer door will not close and sometimes it falls out to the floor. It took us a few times to realize what was happening, but now the piece is cracked and we have only had this refrigerator/freezer for less than a year. Once Samsung fixes this problem of the item falling out or jamming the door, the refrigerator/freezer should run smoothly, and, of course, somehow make the ice maker less noisy. The door also show fingerprints, but that is taken care of by a stainless steel cleaner.
